WHO I AM

I am a designer, technician and educator specializing in lighting and design for theatre, dance, and live events. As I developed my own artistic work, I discovered a passion for helping younger artists cultivate their unique creative voices. While my professional specialty is lighting design, my work also includes sound design, projection and multimedia design, music composition and production, scenic design, and carpentry. My work has received a variety of awards and nominations from groups such as KCACTF, the Memphis Ostrander awards, SETC, and BroadwayWorld.

I ardently believe that art can be a transformative experience for both its audience and its creators, and that collaborative art leads to work that is greater than the sum of its parts. I believe that art is successful when it moves beyond aesthetics and leads to its audience examining their identities, their communities, and their obligations to one another.

I received my MFA from The University of Memphis and my BA from College of Charleston.  I currently serve as a Professor of Production Design at Savannah College of Art and Design. In addition to my academic work, I freelance around the country as a designer and technician when possible.
